So who is the Learning French Critic?
The Learning French Critic is just like you. He is not a French language expert, nor does he claim to be one. He is just a guy who needed to learn French for his MBA course.
In need for a solution that could help him learn French in the most comprehensive, easiest and simplest manner he started searching on internet.
What he found shocked him. While there were a few good programs (And a couple of excellent ones), the majority of them were rubbish. They were teaching the same old way that made learning French a mammoth task.
So he then took it upon himself to make sure other people didn't fall for the same tricks. And thus, LearningFrenchCritic.com was born.

Of all the learning french programs I have come across, my favorite is "Rocket French". This the program for learning french in least time possible. I won't go on about it too much here, you can read the full review below, but make sure you check his site out. I don't think you can find a better solution to learning french on the internet.

Rocket French Review (The Standout Winner) |
Rocket French is the standout winner in my opinion. This isn't a boring text book. This is a powerful multimedia package that uses audio lessons as well as interactive computer games and software to help you learn fast. To make the decission easy, it is also the cheapest option. I think the saying "you get what you pay for" simply doesn't hold true these days.
The audio lessons are designed to take you from beginner to advanced in an interesting and efficient way. The lessons are of high quality and theres no learning useless, boring phrases here.
I find learning vocabulary as the toughest part in any language. But with rocket french, it was covered in a jiffy. Unlike me spending hours trying to memorize word lists, it has software that make building vocabulary a game. Not only do you build up your vocabulary but it also builds up your foundation on verbs and verbal recognition skills.
If you are looking to learn French for some short term course or tour there is nothing faster than Rocket French. For those who want to take their French to next level, Rocket French covers the advanced topics equally well. The technical aspects of grammar, colloquial usage, pronunciation are equally well covered.

Rosetta Stone French |
This is my second favourite product because it's quite comprehensive. Compared to Rocket French this is costly, but then Rosetta Stone has a reputation in field of linguistics training.
However, this product requires you to be online, a big ask!. I could not listen to it in car or load it up my mp3 player. There wass a download available but it came in three seperate versions and you are charged separately for each. Quite heavy on the pocket!
If you can spend that kind of money, then buy all the three versions. It is definitely good. However, if you want to buy only one product that meets all your needs, Rocket French is the product to get! |

Pimsleur French Review |
The Pimsleur course was designed by Dr Pimsleur quite a while ago and he's done a great job. In the full package, there is over 100 20 minute audio lessons. These will take you from novice to confident speaker in less than 3 months.
However the price tag for this product was too heavy for a student like me. Priced at nearly ten times the price of Rocket French, the program lost its value.
If you can afford a grand price tag, this is the program. I felt that with Rocket French available, there are much better places to spend that kind of money. |
